Cantacular Person Of The Year

The most Cantacular Person of the Year is chosen based on who has done the most to influence and/or support the craft beer canning industry and to promote craft beer in cans. It's well known that cans don't shatter, protect beer, are packable, take up less space and contain less air than bottles and we wanted a way to salute the people, places and things supporting the humble can!

In its inaugural year, the most CANTACULAR person was selected from a group of people who really love craft beer in cans but we want to open this contest up to everyone who loves craft beer in cans so get your nominees ready!

We are proud to bestow the very first MOST CANTACULAR PERSON OF THE YEAR award, not to a person but to a website, CraftCans.com. And, actually there are people behind the website– CraftCans.com is run by Russ and Kelly Phillips, two brothers who were drawn to canned craft beer and have worked tirelessly to promote it.

"We are not affiliated with any particular brewery nor are we affiliated with any sort of organization," says Russ. "We just enjoy beer and try to be as unbiased as possible when providing both news and reviews for the canned beer revolution"

The Phillips boys recognized a deficiency in the market and developed an excellent resource available for craft beer lovers, can collectors and anyone else who happens to love beer in cans. Here's one example of their fine reporting. Congratulations boys!

Runner Ups

First Place Runner Up

1st Runner Up
KanJam
Second Place Runner Up

2nd Runner Up
Memphis Taproom
Third Place Runner Up

3rd Runner Up
Peggy the Goat

The game that is sweeping the Northeast and soon the nation, KanJam has few rules but one of them is, players must compete with a can of beer in hand at all times. This in itself is pretty cantacular but the game is more fun and challenging than most old school tailgating, picnicking, hanging out lawn sports. Sly Fox Brewing loved the game so much that they customized the flying discs and KANS with their logo and can art!

Who wants breakable bottles when you're enjoying a pleasant respite in the cobbled lot next to the Memphis Taproom in Kensington? A parked lunch truck serving light fare and a huge selection of canned beer is the main feature while a projection television showcasing Philly sports and 'movie night' completes the scene.

Another non-human in this inaugural year of Cantacular nominees, Peggy, the three legged goat that was the grand champion at the 2011 Sly Fox Bock Fest and Goat Races will forever be remembered for her fighting spirit at the popular beer event. A lot of cans were consumed in this goat's honor!
